While watching videos in non-native languages, we always use subtitles to comprehend the content. But most of us don’t know how to activate subtitles on Android. The easiest solution is to use MX Player as it has inbuilt subtitle support. If you don’t know how to work with subtitles on MX Player, you can use this article as a guide to help you with the same.

1. Opening Subtitle of a Movie
First, you need to have the subtitle file on your local storage. If you have the file on your computer, transfer it into the mobile using any file transfer method. Then, you should open the video file on MX Player. Tap on the video playback screen to have additional options. You will see three dots at the right-top portion of the screen, which will give you access to more features.
Once you tap on the three-dots-button, you will see an option named Subtitle. Choose Open to have the file navigation tree to select the right subtitle file. In case you want to start displaying subtitles automatically with the playback, you should place the file inside the same directory of the video and provide the same name. 2. Downloading Subtitles from the Web for MX Player
If you don’t have the subtitle file on your local storage, you can download it from online. Of course, there are dedicated subtitle websites. But we are not going to use a browser or any other app to download Subtitle here. Follow the steps below for more info. Open MX Player>> Tap on three-dots-button>> Subtitle>> Online Subtitles>> Search.
You will see a popup window now with a checkbox. Turn it on to have a text box to search for the subtitle on opensubtitles.org. The player will give you a set of matching subtitles. MUST CHECK: Download MX Player For Windows Phone.
3. Adjusting Subtitles on MX Player
We don’t always get subtitle files that display text on time. And, it will create trouble in understanding the speech in movies. You can synchronize the subtitle with video using the Subtitle menu. It is also possible to control the subtitle displaying speed to get an efficient result.
If you want to change the position of the text, you have to tap and drag to the position where you want to see it. Sometimes, you may need to change the font, color and shadow style. For that, follow tap on the three-dots-button>> Subtitle>> Settings. You can customize everything as you want.

I have mx player on fire stick. U was able to get subtitle for a movie and was first time doing it. Now want to watch another foreign movie but when I search for subtitles says none. I played the movie and the first movie subtitle appears. Any help?

Hi thanks for the article, I found this because I am experiencing greyed out options (non clickable) on the pop-up submenu right after clicking “Get Subtitles online” after playing a video on this current mc pro version on all my android devices, I remembered enjoying this option on the previous versions, I even searched online but still no luck, did I missed out anything?
